2020

Graaff Reinet Wool Growers’ Association – camera system:  Major problems are experienced with stock theft, game poaching and theft of property. It is suspected that criminals operate from the town. Existing cameras already make a valuable contribution to crime prevention and rapid response. 

Kei River Farmers’ Association – camera system:  Sheep theft is prevalent in the area and there has also been a farm attack. Drug abuse is a serious problem and the installation of the camera system will be of assistance to the local police.

Klipplaat Farmers’ Association – camera system:  The area is plagued by theft of livestock, wool and mohair as well as an increase in drug abuse. Farm attacks and violent crimes have also occurred. The camera system will be used in an attempt to combat crime and to promote liaison with security companies and the police.

Steynsburg Farmers’ Union – camera system: There has already been a farm attack in the area, while trespassing, stock theft and illegal protests occur from time to time This has an adverse impact on the security of farmers.  

Aberdeen Farmers’ Association – camera system: There has been an increase in home robberies, as well as drug and alcohol abuse as a result of high levels of unemployment. Stock theft is increasing, while farm attacks also occur. With the installation of cameras, the movement of vehicles will be monitored in the interest of the community. 

 

2019

Aliwal North Agricultural Association – camera system: Stock theft is becoming a serious problem in the area, while home burglaries and contact crimes such as robbery are common. The cameras will be used for vehicle monitoring and the information distributed to members by means of a cell phone app. The police are also involved in the project and will be given access to the information.

Adelaide Agricultural Association – night vision equipment: Stock theft, illegal hunting, game theft, theft of equipment and trespassing are prevalent in the area. The initiative of the agricultural association, which works closely with the police, has already resulted in the tracing and arrest of various suspects.

Graaff Reinet Wool Growers Association – security gate: Farmers in the area are plagued by stock and game theft as well as property-related crime. A further expansion of the security measures was the installation of cameras to monitor vehicle movement, as well as the installation of a gate where access can be controlled electronically.

Upper-Cathcart Agricultural Association – radio relay system: The most prevalent crime that occurs in the area is stock theft perpetrated by syndicates. With the installation of a relayer, communication in the area will be improved, giving all members access to effective communication.

 

 2018

Albany Bathurst League District Agricultural Union – camera system: An analysis of crime patterns in the area, including stock theft, game poaching and home burglaries, has indicated that vehicles are used in the commission of a crime. The camera system will be monitored by a control room and the relevant information on crime activities obtained from the system will be shared with the police.

 

2017

Buffelshoek Agricultural Association – camera system: Stock theft is the most prevalent crime in the area and is perpetrated by well-organised syndicates. Cameras will be installed along strategic routes to monitor access in the area and to serve as a deterrent.

 

2016

Sneeuberg Agricultural Association – communication system: Poor landline and cellular communication systems have resulted in unreliable communication in the area, while stock theft, assault and home burglaries occur regularly. To improve communication, funds were allocated for the installation of repeaters in the area.

Samekomst Agricultural Association – camera network:  Stock theft and home burglaries are the most prevalent crimes plaguing this isolated area. To create a safer environment, a camera system and security gate were installed.

Clanville-Swempoort-Floukraal Agricultural Association – relay system:  Telecommunication in the area is poor, with limited cellular reception. This hampers efforts to combat crime effectively. For this reason, repeaters were installed in the area to improve communication.

Steytlerville Agricultural Association – camera network: The most prevalent crimes committed in the area include home burglaries, stock theft and illegal hunting. In an attempt to curb crime, a camera network was installed along the respective access routes.   

Witkop Agricultural Association – camera network: Various farms are unoccupied and are considered a high crime risk in terms of home burglaries, stock theft and illegal hunting. A camera network was installed along the respective access routes to assist in identifying suspicious vehicles.
