In die afgelope twee jaar het drie plaasmoorde voorgekom en dit is een van die brandpunte in die Vrystaat wat veediefstal betref. Kameratoerusting is bewillig vir oprigting op strategiese plekke in die gebied.
Henneman Farmers’ Association
During the past two years, there have been three farm murders. Stock theft is also a burning issue in the Free State. Camera equipment was allocated for installation at strategic points in the area.
Koppieskraal Boerevereniging

Koppieskraal Farmers’ Association
Farmer attacks as well as stock theft, home burglaries and theft of farm inputs occur. Camera equipment was allocated for installation at strategic points.
2020
Mockesdam Farmers’ Association – camera system: Crimes such as stock theft, copper theft, home burglaries and armed robbery are prevalent in the area. By installing a camera system in strategic locations, suspicious vehicles can be monitored and reported to the control room to prevent a crime.
Geluksdam Agricultural Association – Camera System: The installation of a camera system in this area gives the police an edge in combating crime such as theft and farm attacks. The system will be used to monitor vehicle movement in the area, especially along the main access routes.
Soutpan Farmers’ Association – camera system: Stock theft is the order of the day in the area, with farm attacks, home burglaries, assault, and grain theft also prevalent. A camera system was implemented to monitor suspicious vehicles. Together with good liaison with the local police, the camera system can contribute towards preventing crime.
Riversdale Farmers’ Association – camera system: Stock theft, as well as the theft of diesel, batteries and equipment, is increasing by the day and the area is also vulnerable to farm attacks. With the installation of cameras, the area can be constantly monitored.
Excelsior Agricultural Association – camera system: Stolen goods and cannabis are transported along secondary roads, while the theft of farming inputs, solar panels and copper cables, as well as stock theft, poses an enormous problem in the area. The installation of camera systems will help to monitor vehicles in the area and could serve as a deterrent.
Edenburg Farmers’ Association – camera system: An increase in stock theft has been experienced. With the installation of cameras in strategic locations, the area can be monitored. Great success has been achieved where cameras had already been installed and the local police formed part of the project.
Reitz East Farmers’ Association – camera system: Stock theft has increased, including burglaries where equipment is stolen from sheds. Incidents of armed robbery, farm attacks as well as arson are increasing. The camera system that was installed will also be of assistance to the local security group.
De Brug Farmers’ Association – camera system: In general, the area is unsafe, with an increase in stock theft as well as theft of solar panels and copper cables. The installation of a camera system will help to monitor access routes and to collect evidence of suspects and suspicious vehicles.
Springfontein Farmers’ Association – camera system: Stock theft, as well as illegal trade in cannabis and alcohol, is common. These substances are even delivered to farmworkers, which gives rise to domestic violence. Cameras will be installed along busy routes from and to the town, with the possibility of extending this to neighbouring districts.
Fauresmith Farmers’ Association – camera system: Stock theft, as well as housebreaking and vehicle theft, occurs sporadically. With the camera system, the movement of suspicious vehicles can be monitored with a view to preventing crime and farm attacks.

2019
Agri Hertzogville – integrity selection database: Funds were allocated for the acquisition of a database that is used to legally unlock information of job applicants regarding prior convictions and arrests.
Vierfontein Farmers’ Association – camera system: The area has already experienced a farm attack and stock theft, while the theft of farm infrastructure and scrap material is the order of the day. The camera system purchased will be used for observation in the area and to obtain relevant information, which will be shared with the police.
Bothaville District Agricultural Union – camera and communication system: The area has experienced an increase in general criminality and specifically the theft of livestock, cables, solar panels, diesel and vehicles. To improve observation and communication capacity, a camera and communication system was installed.
Memel Farmers’ Association – camera and communication system: The area is no exception when it comes to crime, with farm attacks, housebreaking and vehicle theft being the order of the day. The purpose of installing the system was to gather information regarding suspicious vehicles, which is shared with the police, and to improve the area’s communication capacity.
Tweeling Farmers’ Association - installation of camera system: A farm attack has already been prevented in the area, while theft of vehicles, telephone cables, farm infrastructure and scrap metal occur periodically. The camera system will contribute towards a more effective implementation of the area’s Rural Protection Plan.
Skurwekop Farmers’ Association - purchase of camera system: The theft of livestock, equipment, electric cables and pivot joints constitutes the biggest problem in the area. Cannabis smuggling between KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng also occurs via this area. The camera system will be used to monitor the area.
Jagersfontein Farmers’ Union - installation of camera system: Stock theft is a major problem in the area. The camera system will strengthen the capability of the police to monitor suspicious movements in the area.
Phillippolis Farmers’ Association - installation of camera system: Stock theft occurs regularly. Successes in preventing and curbing crime by means of the camera system serve as an incentive for reporting such crimes.
Eeram Agricultural Association - installation of camera system: There is a safety risk because of the various routes that criminals can use in the area. The shortage of manpower and vehicles at the police station has compelled the community to participate actively in crime prevention operations in the area. Crimes such as theft of farm inputs, farm produce and housebreaking are common.
Parys District Farmers’ Union - purchase of camera system: Crimes such as farm attacks, stock theft and armed robbery are common. Various organised stock theft syndicates are active in the area and theft of farm infrastructure occurs regularly, while farmers are constantly being intimidated and threatened with death. With the camera system, it will be possible to monitor vehicle movement and, so doing, improve the safety of the rural community.
Marquard District Agricultural Union - installation of camera system: The camera system will be installed at strategic places, with high crime areas being prioritised. Crimes such as stock theft, housebreaking, vehicle theft, murder and assault are common in the area.
2018
Bothaville District Agricultural Union – purchase of drone: Crime, in general, has increased in the area, with specific reference to theft of livestock, cables, solar panels, diesel and vehicles. A drone, equipped with infrared cameras, was purchased for use in rural protection operations in an attempt to combat crime.
Free State Agriculture – security desk: A security desk was established to gather critical security information, to determine crime trends and monitor implementation of the Rural Safety Strategy and enhance the personal safety of members.
Trompsburg Farmers’ Association – camera system: The area has already experienced farm attacks, with stock theft occurring regularly. The camera system was installed to establish a data network with the help of cameras, linked to a control room, in order to track suspicious-looking vehicles.
2017
Groenebloem Farmers’ Association – battery recharger: General criminality is prevalent in the area, especially the theft of livestock, repeater equipment and farming inputs. Farm attacks also occur in the area, and because of the theft of solar panels, the application was made for a wind charger to recharge repeater batteries.
Greenlands Farmers’ Association – security equipment: The community has implemented a security system, a large part of which was funded by members themselves. To implement the system fully, security equipment such as bullet-proof vests was made available.
Free State Agriculture – security desk: A security desk was established to gather critical security information, to determine crime trends and monitor the Rural Safety Strategy and to enhance the personal safety of members.
Free State Agriculture – integrity selection database: Free State Agriculture’s security desk aimed to launch a pilot project in the Free State where a database of the information of all farm workers and farm residents is captured on a centralised, computerised system. The purpose of the system is to capture on a database the prospective job applicants’ information regarding prior arrests and convictions.
Frankfort District Agricultural Union – security equipment: The geographic area is vast, which makes it difficult to combat crime effectively. Crime in the area mostly relates to stock theft. A safety plan is in operation and to ensure successful implementation thereof, security equipment such as bullet-proof vests and binoculars was made available.
Marquard District Agricultural Union – equipment for control room and installation of cameras: Crimes that occur most commonly in the area are stock theft, burglary, common theft, vehicle theft, murder and assault. Cameras, as well as a repeater, were also installed along strategic access routes to assist in securing the area and for more effective implementation of the Rural Safety Plan.
2016
Senekal Agriculture – installation of camera system: Crimes such as burglary, theft, murder and assault occur in the area. To address the security threat, Senekal Agriculture has installed four cameras in each of its sectors to monitor the movement of vehicles along routes and to report suspicious vehicles to the police.
Free State Agriculture – security desk: A security desk was established to gather critical security information, to determine economic risks for farmers because of crime, and to enhance the personal safety of members.
Heilbron Agriculture – security equipment: Theft of vehicles, tractor and workshop equipment and general criminality are the order of the day. Stock theft is a major problem and the local police station is one of the 10 stations where most incidents of stock theft are recorded. The trust fund has allocated funds for the purchase of a variety of security equipment.
