Vaalharts District Agricultural Association – camera system:  Various forms of crime take place on a daily basis and the whole community is subject to farm attacks, armed robbery, theft of livestock and vehicles as well as farm products. Crime is usually accompanied by violence, and criminals are increasingly equipped with firearms. A camera system is now used to monitor the area.

Wagenaarskraal Agricultural Association – camera system:  Crime in the area occurs sporadically and includes stock and vehicle theft, theft of goods on farms, damage to property, and suspicious vehicles travelling along roads in the area.  Alcohol and drugs are often exchanged for meat. With the camera system, an attempt is made to curb and eliminate these crimes.

2019

Berg Agricultural Association – camera system:  Crime in the area is escalating, including farm attacks and burglary. Stock and vehicle theft is common. Cameras were installed in strategic locations in the area for the purpose of monitoring access.

Kuruman East Agricultural Association – installation of camera system: During the past five years, an increase in crime was reported, especially stock theft, theft of engines, water pumps and solar panels. Various burglaries occurred, as well as illegal hunting with dogs. The camera system will be used to monitor the area and the information will be shared with the local police.

2018

Van Zylsrus Farmers’ Association – camera system: Priority crimes committed in the area are stock theft, illegal hunting, assault and smuggling. The installation of cameras in strategic locations should help to safeguard and protect residents in the area.

Richmond Farmers’ Association –  installation of a repeater:  By implementing a radio communication system, an attempt is made to improve emergency communication in the area. A repeater was installed to improve the effectiveness thereof.

 2017

Agri Colesberg – installation of a repeater: The N1 runs through a large part of the district, which plays a role in the incidence of stock theft in that stock thieves come in from other areas.  Given the mountainous terrain, communication poses a problem. Cell phone reception is unreliable on many farms. To address the problem, a repeater was installed to improve communication.

Agri Kuruman – camera system: Unemployment in the area has increased because of retrenchments at the mines, which also had a negative effect on the security situation. Stock theft and theft of engines and solar panels, as well as burglaries, are common in the area. A camera network is implemented to monitor movement in the area and serves as a deterrent.

Hartsvaal Farmers’ Association – camera system:  Crimes such as home and farm shop burglaries, theft of farm infrastructure as well as stock theft are the order of the day. Much of the crime is committed by criminals who enter from adjacent areas.  To improve safety, the farmers’ association installed three cameras along access routes.
